Disciples of Jesus were in an identity crisis immediately after the death and resurrection of Jesus. They were in no mood to understand paschal mystery of their Master. They felt loneliness and lost the purpose of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. The picture of disciple on the shore of Sea of Tiberias reveals this completely. Here we see Peter in a disappointed manner telling his folks that he is going for fishing. Others who were also in similar mood accompanied him. Though they tried their level best the whole night they did not get anything. It was in the dawn they saw someone at the shore. He asked them whether they got something.
Their fervour for Jesus got strengthened. In a way this incident strengthened them to be in Jerusalem to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. We too will face disappointments in our life. We also become disoriented in our missions and commitments. During all these moments recalling the first instance of commitment is important. This will strengthen and energize us. This will enhance our hope.
